Again, still another techno-tool to help you with your studies. This blog is "work-in-progress" , which means that things are added and removed on a regular basis. Here you'll find extra-reading, extra-listening, extra-grammar stuff, extra writing tips... extra-everything, so it's up to you what you do with it. Needless to say, your feedback, ideas, and comments are very welcome.

Happy 2011!
That's what everybody in English speaking countries will be singing at midnight 31st Dec. (and at 7 AM Jan 1st too) but few really know what the words mean. Its a traditional Scottish song, with words written by Scottish poet Robert Burns, probably inspired by some traditional verse. HERE is the translation into English.
So happy new year everybody!

Thank goodness I haven't gone to London at this time, because if I go there (having learned some tradicional Christmas songs)and listen to people speak with such words, I'd probably feel worse than in your exams. I haven't dare use google with this son, of course. It's true that everything changes, but
the evolution of the languages have always been a great mystery for me.
Have an happy year and I hope the Three Wise Men are very generous with you.

Actually, if you go to London at any time of the year you'll hear Bengali, Urdu, Russian, Spanglish, Inglish, Chinglish ...and of course Scottish and Irish too. In fact, I think that the EOI and other language schools are the only places where English is actually spoken.... so does English really exist ? Is Google a big lie?
Happy new year!
